Job Summary Mohave County is Public Works Department - Equipment Maintenance/Fleet Services is currently recruiting for Automotive Services Technician position located in the Kingman, AZ. Performs entry-level work in the maintenance and repair of county-owned automotive vehicles, light trucks and other related vehicles and equipment. Incumbents are not expected to perform with the same independence and judgment as an Automotive Mechanic, but are expected to progress to a journey level proficiency within a three (3) year period.
REPORTS TO A higher level authority.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED On-the-job training is performed under immediate supervision of a higher level of authority; however, as skill and experience are gained in fulfilling routine duties, increasingly independent action may be authorized.
Essential Job Functions- Assists in the maintenance, servicing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of county-owned automobiles and related equipment and automotive components.
- Assists in estimating, performing cost comparisons, selecting, and requisitioning appropriate materials to complete work assignments.
- Picks up and delivers materials and supplies to job site.
- Cleans and washes County owned vehicles as required.
- Assists in planning and completing work assignments in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, specifications, oral and written instructions and in accordance with the standard procedures and safety precautions of the trade.
- Utilizes a variety of trade equipment and mechanical hand and power tools in performing work assignments.
- Maintains daily work records of work done, material used and time spent.
- Assists in maintaining an adequate supply of materials, equipment and tools required to fulfill work assignments.
- Cleans, maintains and services required equipment and tools used during performance of work assignments.
- Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational and/or training opportunities and read technical publications.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS - Performs related work as required.
- Performs special assignments as requested.
- Exercise regular and predictable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma/GED (General Education Degree).
- Some apprentice mechanic and/or automotive shop experience or training.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/TRAINING - Post high school technical training/school in an automotive or related field.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT - Must pass drug screen post offer.
- Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads at the start of employment and maintain said license while employed in this position.
- Provide acceptable driving history at no cost to the County.
- Tools are to be provided and maintained at the employee's cost.

- The use and care of a variety of maintenance, construction, landscaping/grounds keeping equipment mechanical hand and power tools.
- The occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to the various trades.

Skill in:- Safe, effective operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment used in vehicle and related equipment diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.

- Fulfill physical requirements of work assignments to include frequent moderate lifting of 25 - 50 lbs., performance of moderate to strenuous manual labor and performing work assignments with the use of tools and equipment in cramped, uncomfortable, and contorted positions.
