Job Summary Performs semi-skilled work in the operation of moderately complex construction/maintenance equipment. An employee in this class is responsible for performing tasks of average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment. Tasks at times are performed under hazardous conditions and employees are expected to be particularly alert and careful. Under general supervision, employees are required to exercise some initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks and work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write and follow instructions, plus two (2) years experience in the operation of assigned equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A, B or C, with tanker endorsement, may be required prior to employment depending on equipment operated by the position. Some positions require Aquatic, Right of Way, and restricted Pesticide Licenses prior to employment. Definition: Moderately complex equipment normally over 26,000 GVW, which can be operated after an informal training session of two to four weeks. The equipment is normally operated by one (1) employee on public roadways. The consequence of errors can be significant in terms of cost of repairs and damage to other private vehicles and there is a chance of injury to other employees and citizens. If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;

- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
