York County's Allison Creek Park is a 160-acre park located on the shores of Lake Wylie. Allison Creek offers guests a wide variety of day use recreational opportunities including 4 boat ramps, a kayak/canoe launch, a fishing dock, 3 miles of trails, a playground, and picnic shelters. The newly established campground at Allison Creek has 33 full hook-up RV campsites and 16 primitive tent sites that can be booked for overnight stays in the park.
About our opportunityThe Parks Department is excited to hire a non-exempt temporary Recreation Specialist to join their team at Allison Creek Park! The purpose of this position is to provide information and assistance to park visitors; and to perform related work as required.
Projected Salary: $15.82 per hour. Salary is determined based on experience and/or education.
Work Schedule: This position requires a commitment to work a rotating schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Monitors the park and collects entrance fees from park guests if needed;
- Explains Park rules and regulations and provides requested information to park guests.
- Prepares required records, reports, and correspondence.
- Performs general clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering the telephone, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, maintaining supply inventory, etc.
- Attends training, meetings, etc. as appropriate to maintain or enhance job knowledge and skills.
- May perform park duties (e.g., sale of goods, cashier duties, and stocking duties) as needed.
- Performs various manual tasks in the maintenance of facility.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other personnel, subordinates, volunteers, customers, service providers, community organizations, and the general public.
- Opens and closes facilities.
- Sets up facilities for rental and other events; cleans facilities following events as needed.
About youMinimum Education and Experience Requirements: - Must be 16 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

Annual Leave:Temporary employees do not accrue annual leave.
Sick Leave:Temporary employees will not accrue sick leave time.
Training:Quality training and educational programs are available at various times for county employees in order to support workforce development that is consistent with organizational objectives. Training topics may include driver training, CPR/first aid, communication, supervisor training, workplace violence, substance abuse, and various computer related classes.
