Full-time position available with the General Services Department, Information Technology Division located at 4800 East 63rd Street
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Performs day-to-day operation of a virtualized server environment including multiple hosts, and dozens of VMs.
- Assists lower-level IT staff with more complex technical problems and solutions.
- Coordinates department needs across the server environment.
- Makes hardware, configuration, and software suggestions requiring high levels of technical competency to help meet organizational requirements.
- Provides oversight of help desk team and assist with application support as related to server environments.
- Plans, supervises, reviews, and participates in complex or enterprise-wide projects in a competent fashion.
- Makes significant contributions to the success of projects by applying demonstrated knowledge.
- Provides expert level of analysis and technical guidance of business issues and processes.
- Develops requirements and procedures for new operating systems' products and new hardware devices.
- Provides for product evaluation and testing of hardware/software for feature improvements, feasibility or applicability to existing products being used by the organization.
- Provides for training and support of products installed on the network systems as needed.
- Provides documentation and schematic representation of network systems relating to configuration, procedures, and other pertinent information.
- Performs highly complex management tasks, such as designing, documenting, network and or system configurations.
- Performs daily monitoring of the health and function of server class hardware, the virtual environment, and all VMs contained therein.
- Works with users, desktop support staff, application developers, and application administrators to resolve functional issues and provision for new needs.
- Schedules with all stakeholders for maintenance windows, as needed.
- Maintains and updates server support documentation.
- Manages and maintains backup systems and workflows to ensure recoverability of data or systems in case of need
- Develops testing processes that effectively and efficiently measure program or application performance.
- Prepares instructional materials and training curriculum for specialized or complex training needs.
- Assures accountability of project teams and other employees.
- Instills positive attitudes for embracing change and continuous improvement.
- Works after hours and weekends as needed to support any down/ out of service systems and coordinate IT resources.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 4 years of technology experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and technology experience.
Preference given to those with previous experience in the following areas: server-class hardware support on HPE, Dell, or Pure platforms, VMWare, vSphere, Windows software, Enterprise, Veeam, Rubrik, experience with planning future hardware, OS, supporting enterprise applications such as ERP, CIS, CMMS, AMI, or experience managing project teams. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
