    Job Announcement

    The City of Chandler Police Department, Chief of Police Office is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Police Media Manager. This is a regular full-time, salaried, exempt position with benefits. The work schedule for this position may be Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which may include on-call and weekend and nighttime callouts outside of normal work hours. The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.

    The City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 348 sworn officers and 191 civilians, serves a growing population of close to 289,249 residents. The organization is divided into three main divisions, several sections, and many units. The Patrol Operations Division consisting of three precincts, 1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler, 2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and 3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Division, Operational Support Division, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community.     Who we are looking for
    Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You will be required to supervise and oversee the daily operations of the communications and media relations on behalf of the Chief of Police and senior staff within the Police Department.
    The successful candidate must be able to do the following:
    • Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the media relations area by setting goals and objectives, manage schedules and work priorities, monitor and evaluate performance, facilitate access to resources and training, provide guidance and address issues, conduct interviews and make hiring decisions
    • Manage the creation of marketing and media materials; manage internal and external communications, branding, and marketing efforts specific to the police department.
    • Manage special projects and marketing and communications budgets.
    • Oversee development of content for publications, Police Department website, social media platforms, mobile application and digital content management applications.
    • Serve as a liaison with department divisions; assist with the production of public information and marketing materials, website and social media content, graphics, photos and videos.
    • Conduct managerial research; implement public information and digital communication projects as directed by City leadership.
    • Develop and manage communication strategies for Police Department information; respond to critical incidents providing strategic communication in emergency situations; oversees media training for internal staff and acts as a key liaison for media relations.
    • Monitor media coverage and social media platforms; acts as the City's official spokesperson in a variety of areas; responds to internal and external inquiries.

    Minimum qualifications
    • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communications, Marketing or related field and
    • Must possess at least 7-years of experience in public information or digital content management, working in related progressively responsible positions which include at least 2-years of supervisory experience, or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work and
    • Must possess a valid Driver License with acceptable driving record
    Supervision
    Work is performed under the supervision of an Assistant Chief of Police. This position exercises supervision over both sworn and professional staff.
