- Ability to provide a broad range of advisory services including but not limited to benefits, compensation, position classification, employment, training, wellness, and employee recognition to assigned city departments while maintaining a high level of expertise in assigned functional area.
- Ability to respond to inquiries from employees and supervisors and facilitate solutions on matters including but not limited to policy interpretations, payroll issues, work related injuries, leave options, complaints, and retirement.
- Ability to research, analyze and produce special projects on complex issues such as special pay categories, organizational design, and human resource best practices utilizing various analytical methods and preparing written reports and presentations.
- Ability to provide consulting services on human resource related issues to assigned city departments while enhancing the role of the Human Resources Department as a strategic partner, administrative resource, and change agent.
- Other areas of responsibility include but are not limited to unemployment claim management, timely response to open records requests, and completing payroll functions.
- All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.
- Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.
Minimum QualificationsAny combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: - Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, with emphasis preferred in Human Resources Management, Business Management or related.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in performing directly related Human Resources duties in any of the disciplines - benefits, wellness, recruitment, risk, and retirement or related. Show a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work well under stress and high demand.
- Licenses: Valid Class C Driver's License required
- Certifications Required: SHRM, SPHR or IPMA-CP/SCP highly desirable.
Additional Information Please note this is a TEMPORARY position: - Project Duration: The position is funded only through the project’s completion date of September 30, 2026.
- End of Project Employment: After the conclusion of the project, employment with the city will cease unless the individual applies for and is selected for a different, funded, and budgeted city position.
- No Guaranteed Transition: There will not be a specific position created for any project employee to continue their employment after the project ends.
