The City of Indio is seeking a polite, professional and progressive leader to join its Community Development Department as Principal Planner. If you are a planner with a strong technical background, a passion for community growth and a “can-do” attitude, you are encouraged to apply.
The Principal Planner is responsible for leading and overseeing a variety of current and advance planning projects, ensuring compliance with the City’s General Plan and Zoning Code and reviewing complex zoning and development applications. As a key member of the department, you will serve as a mentor and team builder, encouraging collaboration and guiding staff through challenges to enhance the department’s ability to effectively serve the community.
Reporting to the Community Development Director, you will provide supervision, conduct in-depth research and present planning projects to the Planning Commission and City Council. The ability to balance competing priorities, demonstrate effective communication and project management skills with an emphasis on collaboration will be the keys to your success.
