    JOB SUMMARY
    The Fleet Maintenance Specialist is responsible for a variety of duties relating directly to the technical support as needed by maintaining accurate records for the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and telematics management system (GPS) system, the preparation of documents, reports, regulatory requirements for the Fleet Maintenance Department.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Develops, updates, and manages detailed databases and creates departmental spreadsheets, graphic presentations, and written reports.
    • Manages equipment assets in department CMMS and Telematics system through creation of assets, location, specifications, description, transfers, change of status, and researches technical issues within systems.
    • Maintains user and access database, provides training, mentors and supports users of CMMS and Telematics systems.
    • Builds and performs queries and database cleanup projects.
    • Applies state and local government laws and regulation relating to fleet operation.
    • Reports on vehicle warranties and recalls with internal customers and outside vendors.
    • Utilizes computer skills to research and implement maintenance procedures provided by service publications and manufacture’s owner manuals.
    • Implements service contracts, warranties, recalls and service bulletins.
    • Assists with maintaining records and test equipment for State Inspections at all fleet maintenance locations.
    • Researches, develops, and designs fleet maintenance reports to measure overall efficiency.
    • Develops and updates time and labor guide standards utilizing current automotive industry standards.
    • Performs internal audits on telematics hardware and camera systems, ensuring hardware is in working order, while coordinates and communicating with internal customers and external vendors to resolve any deficiencies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    DECISION MAKING
    • Works under general supervision.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Four years’ experience with computerized maintenance management software and spreadsheets, report writing, database operation/knowledge.
    • Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License.
    • Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
    • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency.
    • Experience with telematics hardware and software.
    • Experience with Excel, Crystal reports, SQL, photo shop and contract management system.

    JOB DIMENSIONS
    • Skill in use of equipment maintenance software, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain contact with internal customers, management, vendors and regulatory agencies.
    • Ability to apply advanced technical writing skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
    Physical requirements including lifting up to 50 pounds. Working conditions are in an office/shop environment, other hazards include driving, traffic, sudden temperature changes, extreme temperatures and rain, insects, fumes, dust and poor ventilation. Required to operate a company vehicle on a frequent basis. Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing.

    May be required to work hours other than regular schedule including rotating shifts, overtime, and on-call hours.
