Why you’ll love this position: The Food and Nutrition Services Section administers the USDA Food Distribution Program and the following USDA Child Nutrition Programs: National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Under the NSLP, the After School Snack Program and Seamless Summer Option are also available. The programs are operated in public, non-public, and residential child care institutions. The goal of the Food and Nutrition Services Section is to providing safe food and technical assistance to ensure well balanced nutritious meals are served to the students of Missouri.
- Assist the Director and participate in the development of the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) program, also known as SUN Bucks under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
- Assist in the administration of the Summer EBT program and related student eligibility processes under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
- Assist in the implementation of procedures for the collection of Summer EBT student eligibility data for LEAs.
- Contact school district authorized representatives to obtain student data required for benefits.
- Collect and confidentially review school student directory data on excel spreadsheets and automated databases.
- Assist in the development and management of an electronic database for streamlined student data collection.
- Track data submission activity and conduct follow-up with school districts as needed.
- Assist in the resolution of student directory files from districts.
- Assist in receiving phone calls from school districts and provide professional customer service to help provide a resolution.
- Compare student directory submissions from school districts to internal verification reports that compare total number of free or reduced eligible students the school submitted.
- Maintain and update annually the Summer EBT guidance and free or reduced-price NSLP eligibility manuals for Local Education Agencies (LEAs) participating.
- Assist in the participation and implementation of the Direct Certification with Medicaid program.
- Assist in updates to Direct Certification guidance and provide workshops to LEAs on identifying students directly certified and extended eligible.
- Present Summer EBT resources and guidance at workshops for LEAs and attend conferences related to student eligibility, Summer EBT, Direct Certification and other directly related programs.
- Assist in the management of the NSLP Verification process.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in business or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
OR - Four or more years of progressive experience in Child Nutrition Programs, elementary/secondary education, government, policy, food assistance benefits or closely related experience, and possession of a high school diploma or equivalency.
