OverviewThe 4-H Program Coordinator is a full-time position with the Larimer County CSU Extension Office in Fort Collins, CO. The individual is a member of the Larimer County Extension team, which consists of 16 staff who provide community education in the areas of agriculture & natural resources, community development, family & consumer sciences, health & well-being, horticulture, and 4-H/youth development. The individual is responsible for a wide variety of program coordination and delivery responsibilities that support positive youth development through the Larimer County 4-H program within the Extension office.
The Larimer County 4-H team consists of: two 4-H Specialists covering Family & Consumer Sciences, Livestock, and Shooting Sports projects; an Administrative Specialist who supports scheduling, registration, enrollment, and other functions; and the Program Coordinator. While staff provide 4-H program leadership, much of the delivery of 4-H programs and activities occurs through volunteers. The Larimer County 4-H program has 26 clubs, over 700 youth members, and over 200 adult volunteers, making it one of the largest in the state.
The individual is responsible for program coordination tasks such as leading special events and special event preparations, providing support to the two Specialists for execution of projects ranging from shooting sports to livestock, providing general volunteer coordination, and conducting outreach and recruiting activities at schools and events. Direct education of youth and/or volunteers is also possible. The individual is expected to interface with the state 4-H office and 4-H colleagues from across the state as needed. The ability to use technology and software efficiently and effectively is important.
The individual in this position may work a hybrid schedule, but a minimum of two (2) days per week are expected to be in-person at the Extension office. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary, and hours can be flexed as needed. The individual will report to the 4-H Youth Development Specialist but is expected to support both Specialists. Additionally, t here is no defined end limit for this position. It is expected to continue indefinitely.

- Coordinating the annual 4-H Open House and other recruitment-related community events.
- Organizing Achievement Night to celebrate the accomplishments of 4-H youth and volunteers.
- Coordinating and supporting the execution of events such as livestock tag-ins, as requested by Specialists.
- Supporting projects including shooting sports, small animals, horses, and others by preparing curriculum/materials, managing registration, and communicating with volunteers as needed.
- Communicating effectively with volunteers, staff, and partners, both verbally and in writing.
- Conducting youth outreach activities at schools to promote 4-H programs.
- Supporting various activities at the County Fair, such as contests, project displays, judging, and data entry.
- Chaperoning youth on overnight trips as needed.
- Assisting or filling in for Specialists in delivering and supporting educational programs when requested.
- Providing excellent customer service to 4-H families, leaders, and youth members.
- Attending and participating in staff meetings and other functions of the Larimer County Extension Office.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs for youth ages 5-18.
- Proven experience developing and delivering programs for youth ages 5-18.
- Strong event coordination experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan ahead and take initiative.
- Knowledge and familiarity with the 4-H program and/or Extension programs.
- Experience working with and managing volunteers.
- Experience with shooting sports disciplines (e.g., archery, rifle, air pistol) and associated safety protocols.
- Ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of clientele.
- A balanced approach of empathy and clear expectations when working with 4-H families.
- Ability to navigate complex or challenging relationships with 4-H leaders and families.
- Knowledge and familiarity with County Fair, particularly youth participation and events.
- Moderate to advanced proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor.
- Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
