    About University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB

    (This is not a state position)

    University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

    Position Summary

    Temporary, Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 8/31/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

    Salary: $16.50-$21.00 per hour. Depending on education and experience.

    Location: Off campus. School sites in the cities of Colton, Rialto, and San Bernardino.

    Work Schedule

    40 hours per week. Typically, Mon-Fri 1-3:30PM, but flexible with class schedules. Some evenings and weekends are required.

    Typical Activities

    Under minimal supervision of the Educational Talent Search Program Director, the Educational Pathway Mentor will work independently to:

    • Work with Middle School Advisors and High School Counselors to execute a peer tutoring model,

    • Conduct group and/or individual tutoring sessions and/or mentoring sessions,

    • Provide study and note taking lessons, share learning techniques with students,

    • Meet with students periodically to assess academic progress,

    • Assign students specific responsibilities between tutor/mentor sessions,

    • Refer students to a variety of materials and resources.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Education:
      • Applicants must possess a college degree or be currently enrolled in an Intuition of Higher Education; making satisfactory progress towards earning a postsecondary degree.
    • Experience:
      • Tutors must have previous experience with tutoring middle or high school students OR demonstrate an aptitude, willingness, and ability to learn such skills.
    • Other:
      • Tutors MUST have an overall GPA of 3.0 in the subject matter in which they will tutor.
      • Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to various school sites in the SBCUSD, RUSD, or CJUSD areas.
      • Evenings and some weekends required.
      • Background check and Live Scan required.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
