    Summary

    ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
    The Information Technology Department supports the organization’s technology needs and provides leadership for future solutions. Deschutes County IT manages systems and infrastructure, and provides stable, secure, and reliable technical support services to County staff and clients. The department includes 22 employees and partners with other technical staff throughout the County. The department is dedicated to enhancing security, efficiency, and productivity and provides everything from phone support to application integration.

    ABOUT THE JOB:

    The Enterprise Cloud Administrator Sr. is a pivotal role, responsible for managing and optimizing the organization's Microsoft 365 platform to support business operations effectively. This position oversees the deployment of features, ensures compliance with security and data integrity standards, and addresses complex technical challenges across all departments and offices. Key responsibilities include administering Microsoft 365 services, troubleshooting escalated issues, and acting as a project manager for Microsoft 365-related initiatives. The role also involves integrating Microsoft 365 solutions with other enterprise systems, managing data governance policies, and automating administrative tasks using advanced PowerShell scripting.

    As a senior-level role, this position requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft 365 applications, Azure AD, Power Platform, and related security and compliance tools. The Enterprise Cloud Administrator Sr is also expected to stay current with emerging technologies, provide technical training to end-users, and lead efforts to enhance the performance, reliability, and cybersecurity of the cloud environment. This role involves conducting system audits and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the organization’s technology strategy aligns with its broader goals.

    This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid of in-office/remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Administration and Optimization of Microsoft 365 Services - This includes managing components such as Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Defender, ensuring their seamless integration and functionality. It involves deploying new features, maintaining system health and performance, and leveraging PowerShell for automation and administrative tasks.
    • Security and Compliance Management - The role is responsible for overseeing and implementing security measures within the Microsoft 365 platform, such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, and Data Lifecycle Management. Regular audits and assessments ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Project Management and Collaboration - Acting as a project manager for Microsoft 365-related initiatives, this responsibility includes scoping, planning, and implementing projects. It also involves collaborating with IT and business units to integrate Microsoft 365 solutions with other enterprise systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

    What You Will Bring:
    Knowledge of or experience with:
    • Microsoft 365 Platform and Tools - Proficient in managing and administering Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Defender. Experience with Azure AD for group management, app registrations, and hybridized environments.
    • Security and Compliance Implementation - Experience with Microsoft 365 security and compliance features, such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, and vulnerability remediation, ensuring data governance and adherence to retention policies.
    • PowerShell Scripting and Automation - Advanced knowledge of PowerShell commandlets for automating and streamlining administrative tasks, performing system audits, and troubleshooting technical issues within the Microsoft 365 environment.
    Skill in:
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
    • Promoting and enforcing safe work practices.
    • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers, citizens, developers, advocates, and regional agencies.

    Compensation

    $7,113.14 to $9,532.28 for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This position is available immediately.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field;
    • AND four (4) years of experience supporting and managing endpoint devices;
    • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Advanced Certifications - Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or similar credentials.
    • Experience with Emerging Technologies - Hands-on experience with AI-powered Microsoft 365 features, Microsoft Viva, or advanced integrations between Microsoft 365 and third-party applications.
    • Expertise in IT Service Management Frameworks - Proficiency in ITIL or similar frameworks, with a focus on incident management, change management, and service delivery optimization.
    • Experience in Multi-Tenant or Cross-Organizational Environments - Demonstrated success managing Microsoft 365 environments in complex, multi-tenant setups or environments with significant external partner collaboration (e.g., B2B or B2C cloud configurations).
    • Project Leadership in Large-Scale Deployments - Proven experience in leading the end-to-end rollout of major Microsoft 365 initiatives, such as organization-wide migrations, enterprise security upgrades, or digital transformation projects.
    • Proficiency in Advanced Networking Concepts - Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments, networking fundamentals, and protocols to optimize the performance of Microsoft 365 solutions across on-premises and cloud systems.
    • Familiarity with Data Analytics and Reporting Tools - Experience leveraging Microsoft Power BI or similar tools to provide insights into system performance, user activity, and compliance metrics.


    Necessary Special Requirements

    The employment offer will be contingent upon pre-employment screening for criminal history and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). These screenings must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

    • CJIS Certification - The certification process, including training and examination, will be conducted and paid for by Deschutes County following the candidate’s hire.
