    What You'll Be Doing

    The Data Analyst for the Child Welfare Division offers a unique opportunity to promote a data driven and outcomes-based culture within the agency. The successful candidate will have the talent to see the big picture using data, identify trends, create visually attractive presentations to communicate data story, and help create and implement plans to improve practices based on the data.

    This position reports to the Continuous Quality Improvement Manager (CQI) and may require some evenings, weekends, and a rotating on-call schedule. The Data Analyst is assigned to the Wake County Health & Human Services Center Swinburne Center.

    Position requires highly advanced and exceptional technology knowledge and skills in:
    • Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
    • Data visualizations and data storytelling
    • Case management systems/databases

    Essential Functions:
    • Develop and publish reports and data dashboards
    • Create data visualizations, including infographics, that tell a clear story of findings to coworkers with limited or no experience with data
    • Deliver clear, insightful interpretation of data
    • Monitor data quality and provide technical assistance to end users, as needed
    • Conduct statistical analyses of data and program evaluations to identify trends and develop plans for improvement
    • Lead improvement projects, assist with monitoring of improvement plans
    • Collaborate with other units within CQI (quality assurance, training, coaches) and outside of CQI
    • Create and refine reports in case management system
    • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Child Welfare data, consult on data needs, interpretation, and quality

    The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

    • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics/Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field (i.e. Public Policy, Psychology, Health or Human Sciences)
    • Two years of experience in data science and analytics
    • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

    Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

    • Child Welfare, Health, or Human Services professional level employment
    • Ability to learn new organizational systems and processes quickly
    • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field
    • Knowledge of data management best practices
    • Ability to communicate and work with business subject matter experts and organizational leaders
    • Ability to communicate technical information well, both written and oral, and make effective public presentations

    Hiring Range: 68,544 - 92,533 Commensurate with Experience

    Market Range: 68,544.00 - 116,522.00
