    Paralegal I: $24.88- $31.725

    Paralegal II: $26.37- $33.63

    The City Attorney’s Office has an opening for an experienced paralegal to perform paraprofessional, legal support services and case management for attorneys in the General Civil Section of the City Attorney’s Office. The General Civil Section covers a wide variety of practice areas. The paralegal in this position will perform a variety of specialized confidential tasks involving preparation of legal documents related to human resources, employment and contracts for City departments. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing responses in connection with state and federal discrimination investigations, unemployment hearings, grievances, arbitrations and other similar complaints and have experience with drafting legal documents such as contracts, legal opinions, and other legal documents, with a proven track record of independently managing diverse assignments. The paralegal in this position also handles the scheduling of witnesses and other paralegal duties and general administrative duties as assigned. Applicants must be able to work independently and proactively as well as within a team environment. Salary based on qualifications and experience.

    Paralegal I: Associate Degree in Legal Services or related field required and two (2) years experience as a Legal Assistant required, one (1) of which must have been as a paralegal doing legal research in an area relevant to the area of assignment (criminal law, real property, or general civil) required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A four (4) year college degree is preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to type at least 35 word per minute. Must pass a background investigation.

    Paralegal II: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or other closely related field required and three (3) years relevant paralegal experience conducting legal research in area of assignment (criminal law, real property, or general civil) required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate the ability to type at least 35 word per minute. Must pass a background investigation.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
