    Job Summary

    Do you like hands-on tasks and making crafts? Do you have experience working with kids? If you would like to use your experience with kids to help create a safe, engaging, and fun environment, the City of Olathe’s Recreation Leader position may be just what you’re looking for! Kids Club provides short-term care for children while their grown-ups utilize all of the amenities of the Olathe Community Center. We are looking for a Part-Time Recreation Leader to join our outgoing team at Kids Club with weekday availability between 7:30am-12:30pm.

    STARTING PAY: $15.50 AN HOUR

    The Recreation Leader I assists in planning, organizing, implementing and supervising recreation programs for children such as social-recreation activities, arts and crafts, and curriculum . This position is part of a two-level career progression of Recreation Leader I a nd II.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Complete s routine essential tasks supporting recreation program operations ; prepares, sets-up, and cleans-up program activities; completes work under limited supervision by following standard program directions.
    • Effectively communicates with program participants, co-workers, and supervisors ; d emonstrate s excellent customer service .
    • Follow s all City policies and procedures ; p articipate s with group and provides support for participants while participating in program ; attends required training.


    Qualifications

    Experience: O ne year of experience working in the recreation industry and/or working with children is preferred . M ust be 18 years of age or older .

    Education: A high school diploma or equi valent is required .

    Licenses & Certifications: None required.
