    Overview

    The Department of Natural Resources is actively seeking a qualified candidate for the Maintenance Technician I or the Maintenance Technician II position to contribute to the strength of our team. If you're ready to make a positive impact and join a dynamic group, we encourage you to apply!

    Maintenance Technicians play a crucial role in overseeing building, facility, grounds, and reservoir maintenance programs for parks and open lands managed by Larimer County.     The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, some weekends and holidays may be required. Additionally, in the event of a local emergency or disaster declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be assigned to serve as Disaster Service Workers.

    Responsibilities

    What you'll be doing:
    • Performing maintenance and repairs on vehicles, boats, boat docks, equipment, cabins, restrooms, water facilities, visitor services buildings, and other related facilities.
    • Making routine purchases required for daily operations.
    • Planning and scheduling work assignments for crews, ensuring equipment and supplies are available, including proper safety equipment.
    • Maintaining accurate records and reports related to maintenance and repairs.
    • Assisting in the fabrication and construction of park facilities, which may include boat docks, park shelters, picnic tables, park signs, fire grates, campsites, parking areas, small buildings, utility lines, and other similar projects.
    • Operating a variety of heavy and light equipment, including mowers, chainsaws, tractors, backhoes, boats, and trash compactors.
    • Providing information and directions to the public to enhance their experience in the park.
    • Performing other duties as necessary to support the effective operation of the park.

    What we're looking for:
    • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
    • Proficiency in routine software and business applications, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely convey information both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and community members.
    • Consistent, reliable, and predictable attendance.
    • Familiarity with methods, materials, techniques, tools, and operational characteristics of mechanical equipment used in park maintenance, facility repair and construction, and related vehicle and equipment repair.
    • Knowledge of general principles in electrical wiring, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, welding, vehicle mechanics, and horticultural practices.

    Maintenance I
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
    Maintenance II
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
