The division is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-driven individual to join its personnel team. The position will be a part of a small team responsible for assisting with integrating new team members; processing documents and personnel actions; data integrity and creating reports. Candidates must be detail oriented; have good, effective communication skills; be self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, make routine decisions, organize workflow and establish priorities and deadlines. Candidate must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Process personnel actions, including deductions, in the state’s payroll and human resource system.
- Conduct new employee orientation.
- Assist new employees with benefit paperwork.
- Provide training and assistance to employees/timekeepers.
- Process time and leave transactions including reconciliation of balances.
- Answer time/leave, pay, deduction and general policy inquiries; providing guidance when appropriate.
- Compose correspondence involving some interpretation and application of established policies and procedures, as well as deduction and benefit rules; maintain correspondence and report files.
- Develop and maintain various spreadsheets in excel and databases in access for tracking and reporting purposes; evaluate information and provide recommendations when appropriate.
- Participate in recruitment functions when necessary.
- Facilitate division wide training/educational opportunities as needed.
- Assist with building operations as needed.
- Provide back-up services for the division receptionist as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for: Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in business, public or personnel administration, or closely related field; or three or more years of experience with primary focus in human resources (substitutions may be allowed);
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Knowledge of SAMII HR system is beneficial.
