What you’ll do: - Reports directly to the Director of FMDC and manages a team of approximately 80 team members.
- Provides leadership and management for the Project Management Unit, which develops and manages FMDC capital improvement (CI) projects. The Unit manages projects, as identified by FMDC, for state agencies including Department of Natural Resources, State Parks, Department of Corrections, Department of Mental Health, Missouri National Guard, Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, Missouri Veterans Commission, Department of Public Safety, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Health and Senior Services, Office of Administration, Missouri Lottery, Department of Revenue, Department of Agriculture and other agencies as needed.
- Directs and manages the Construction Administration Unit, which oversees construction projects throughout the State. Responsibilities include oversight and approval of project assignments, review and approval of project pay applications and change orders, oversight of weekly project status meetings, and approval of budget change requests.
- Leads the Project Design Unit, which provides in-house design for projects, and develops space planning and interior design for all state-owned and leased facilities. This Unit also develops full architectural construction documentation and specifications for projects and oversees all design projects.
- Manages the State’s Construction Project Unit, which builds construction projects throughout the state, including office space remodels, systems furniture installations, and small construction projects for state-owned buildings and properties.
- Maintains positive working relationships with contractors, consultants, sub-consultants/contractors, legal teams, vendors, and other internal and external stakeholders while handling disputes, liquidated damages, contract negotiations, and legal matters.
- Coordinates and communicates with departments on status of projects.
- Reviews and assists with CI project development for all state agencies.
- Creates and submits weekly project updates to the FMDC Director.
- Provides information for the Director and OA’s communication department to respond to legislative and media inquiries.
- Communicates and synergizes with state municipalities on state projects that may affect their communities.
- Ensures Design and Construction team members receive the necessary resources to perform at the highest, safest level.
All you need for success:Minimum Qualifications - Four-year bachelor’s degree in a related area of construction management, architecture, engineering, or another related field. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
- Four years’ experience managing project development or related project management experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Preferred Qualifications - Master’s degree in a related area of business administration or other related fields.
- Four years of supervisory management experience or related experience.
- Knowledge and ability to operate project management software, identify and lead process improvements, implement design/construction projects, and modify systems for related application software.
- OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification.
