    Job Location: This position will be located at 930 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City. This position may be eligible for hybrid schedule after a successful onboarding period and will be required to be in office a minimum of one day per week if approved.

As the Chief Dental Consultant within the Office of Dental Health you have the privilege to work with a team of people completely dedicated to bettering the health of Missourians.

    • Serve as Missouri’s oral health expert to educate and collaborate with other public health decision makers and providers on the relationship of oral health to overall health and identify strategies to mitigate exacerbation of systemic diseases due to oral infections.
    • Design surveillance programs that provide accurate descriptions of the oral health status and needs of Missourians to decision makers and stakeholders to inform public health policy.
    • Collaborate with public health colleagues and stakeholders to design and evaluate preventive and interventional programs to address the most important oral health needs of Missourians.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with Office of Dental Health team members to ensure programs designed to improve the oral health needs of Missourians meet grant deliverables.
    • Monitor and report on the oral healthcare workforce. Collaborate with stakeholders to create a workforce that has the capacity to adequately serve the needs of Missourians.
    • Provide current evidence-based information on oral health and the safe, effective delivery of oral healthcare to public health colleagues and oral healthcare stakeholders.
    • Learn and share knowledge with other dental health professionals on the latest infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines and perform IPC compliance visits to ensure clinics are operating at acceptable IPC standards.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree preferred with experience practicing in the field of dentistry.
    • Experience working with diverse teams and programs with dynamic work plans to meet goals and objectives of the office, division, and department.
    • Excellent people skills, ability to manage conflict, multi-task, solve problems, and take direction; ability to make difficult decisions based on public health principles.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Master's of Public Health degree or experience in public health preferred
