    The Position

    Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    This position is in the Bureau of Industrial Site Cleanup. This recruitment will be used to underfill a Professional Engineer. This position reviews permit applications, engineering reports, proposals and plans for activities and operations subject to State and Federal regulations governing wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, and site remediation; determines if facilities utilize sound engineering practices; develops permit conditions; and prepares draft reports that conform to State and Federal water and waste regulations and defend recommendations in public hearings. The position will oversee and perform field investigations and inspections of wastewater treatment facilities, industrial operations, solid and hazardous waste management facilities and remediation sites; collect samples, analyze data and prepare reports for agency and public review; collect and perform quality assurance and control functions on data for reports and studies designed to monitor air and water quality; review corrective action plans for compliance with established remediation standards; and recommend enforcement action for permit and law violations.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level.
