This position is part of the department’s senior leadership team and reports to the Commissioner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Builds strategic partnerships across education, workforce, and economic development stakeholders in Missouri.
- Serves as liaison to legislators, policymakers, state agencies, universities and colleges, chambers of commerce, economic development entities, regional planning organizations, and other relevant partners with the aim of leveraging common strategic objectives to advance affordable access to quality higher education and workforce development in Missouri.
- Monitors and provides thorough analysis of federal and state legislation and decisions which may impact the department and the entities the department supports.
- Works across the department to coordinate responses, strategic messaging, and requirements assigned to the department.
- Works closely with the department’s assistant commissioners to ensure appropriate messaging to various target audiences.
- Works closely, collaboratively and seamlessly with peer professionals across Missouri.
- Experience with using project management principles and organizing teams to complete as particular task.
- Plans, organizes, and executes strategic meetings and promotional events on behalf of the department.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize and re-prioritize quickly; ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
- Demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks and produce quality materials while achieving results and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrates regular and reliable attendance in meetings and events.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
- Beneficial education and/or work-related experience includes technical or professional experience in government relations, outreach or community relations or closely related area
- Supportive skills include: written & verbal communication, organizational skills, problem solving, data-driven planning, understanding of Missouri policy process, self-motivation, and effective collaboration in a team environment
