This position will be located at Meramec State Park, 115 Meramec Park Drive, Sullivan, MO 63080. Work shifts will vary according to facility demands and will include working a minimum of two weekends a month from April 1 to October 31. Housing is available.
- Oversee and manage the overall operation and maintenance of Meramec State Park and Onondaga Cave State Park in a management unit, including operation and maintenance of campgrounds, caves, day use areas, trail network, historic buildings and grounds, lodging, retail, small maintenance and repair projects, visitor service functions and organized group camps.
- Supervise permanent, seasonal, temporary, and volunteer employees in the protection, maintenance, operation, and repair of state parks, natural and cultural resources, facilities, equipment, and systems. Skill in managing and collaborating with staff.
- Plan and direct natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management and research for Meramec State Park and Onondaga Cave State Park.
- Plan and coordinate special events, group outings, and special program requests with a variety of stakeholders
- Collaborate with other agencies and/or stakeholders always seeking for opportunities to partner to better serve visitor or protect resources
- Skill in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and/or preparing federal or state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned program
- Assist in resource stewardship activities
- Ability to develop budget and project recommendations and perform administrative functions including revenue and procurement
- Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the park

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field AND 5 or more years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites (Substitutions for additional education or experience may be allowed)
- Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.

- Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must work a minimum of two weekends per month from April 1 to October 31.
- Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays
- Must be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and have the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
- MDC Level I Prescribed Fire Training within first 6 months of appointment.
