Senior Commissioned Investigator II Department of Revenue Annual Salary: $45,000 - $53,500 Location: St Louis, MO DOR’s vision is to provide every customer the best experience every time. You will be a team member of Missouri’s CIB Investigators who serve the State of Missouri enforcing revenue and tobacco laws.
What you will do : - Directs and/or conducts investigations of suspected violations and incidents that occur within the field of fraud, relating to the Department of Revenue; interviews, or directs the interview of staff, victims, suspects, and witnesses to obtain verbal and written statements; obtains evidence and ensures adherence to the chain of custody standards, as well as maintaining proper measures of custodial control.
- Locates and interviews victims, witnesses, and persons suspected of violating statutes, policies and/or procedures administered by the assigned agency and prepares necessary statements of such encounters.
- Locates and interviews individuals and representatives of business or governmental entities to obtain evidence of suspected violations or diversion efforts.
- Ensures compliance and initiates enforcement of state statutes and regulations regarding motor vehicle dealers, marine dealers, salvage businesses, towing companies, and contracted DMV license offices.
- Ensures compliance related to the sales tax of cigarette tobacco and other tobacco products.
- Enforcement of the regulations pertaining to red-dyed diesel fuel for motor vehicle operation.
- Serves as a liaison with internal staff, law enforcement agencies, prosecuting attorneys' offices, and other governmental entities when conducting investigative and surveillance activities.
- Administers instructive courses to other outside Law Enforcement agencies on the roles and responsibilities of the Department of Revenue.
- Compiles, analyzes, evaluates, and preserves facts, statements, affidavits, and other evidence for use in legal actions, and prepares detailed reports of the investigative findings.
- Conducts confidential internal investigations of staff in situations which may involve theft, misfeasance, and malfeasance of state funds, or abuse of programs or policies.
- Examines and analyzes a variety of records to secure information concerning suspected violations of federal and state laws and/or regulations.
- Prepares and issues subpoenas.
- Testifies in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings.
- Exercises independence and initiative in the performance of responsibilities; receives general administrative direction.
- Performs other related work as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: - Possession of a current Missouri Peace Officer License, in good standing
- Investigative experience
- Prefer Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or closely related field
- Several years of experience in law enforcement or closely related field
