    CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE
    The County of El Dorado , Chief Administrative Office , Parks Division is dedicated to improving and maintaining the recreational facilities within our County which include Henningsen Lotus Park , Pioneer Park, Bradford Park, Joe's Skatepark, American River recreation, and the Rubicon Trail.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Under general supervision, provides visitor services and information; performs both routine and skilled work in the operation, care, and maintenance of County parks facilities and grounds; and performs related duties as assigned.

    The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
    • Assist and provide information to park visitors by maintaining timely posting of bulletins and information materials regarding use of park.
    • Collect admittance fees, sell and issue passes, coordinate group use permits, reconcile receipts and provides receipts, and report to administration as directed.
    • Advise users of County Parks and Recreation codes and regulations.
    • Check vehicles for display of fee receipts.
    • Summon proper law enforcement agency if and when needed to enforce codes and regulations.
    • Monitor park facilities including buildings, play equipment, and pathways; inspect grounds and facilities for hazardous conditions and correct or barricades the hazards; report the need for repair to administration.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT

    An ideal candidate will have experience with customer service and working with the public; the skills and knowledge to handle a cash register, collect fees, and reconcile receipts; and the ability to clean and maintain the park facilities including emptying trash cans and cleaning the restrooms. The candidate is expected to be a good communicator and work well with the public, be a team player, and be adaptive and versatile to a dynamic work environment.
    Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following minimum qualifications:
    Equivalent to graduation from high school; or current enrollment in a high school diploma or equivalent program.

    OR

    Six (6) months of experience in customer-facing roles, such as customer service, retail, hospitality, tourism, recreation, or park operations, or experience through volunteer work in community, state, or national service programs.

    Licenses and Certifications:
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California or Nevada Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Park Operations Assistant. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103.1 and 1105.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.

    We currently have the following vacancies:

    • Four (4) extra help vacancies in the Chief Administrative Office - Parks Division, located in Placerville, CA. Extra help vacancies are made to maintain adequate coverage of work for short periods of time at frequent intervals, where employment is of a recurrent nature depending on the needs of the Agency; work may be seasonal, on-call, and/or for a limited duration. Extra help employees are not considered regular employees, therefore do not attain civil service status, and do not receive benefits or paid leaves; however, they do accrue sick leave consistent with the law.
