    Job Summary

    Salary :

    Plans Examiner Provisional: $26.63- $33.955

    Plans Examiner I- Licensed: $28.28- $36.065

    Plans Examiner II- Licensed: $28.90- $38.295

    Performs skilled technical work and reviews construction plans, specifications, and other technical material submitted to obtain building and other permits to determine compliance with all applicable federal, state, and other applicable construction codes in the assigned area (mechanical). Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Plans Examiner. Performs other related work as required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Plans Examiner Provisional : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and five (5) years of construction-related experience in mechanical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must apply for and pass the State of Florida certification/licensing examination for Plans Examiner in the assigned category (mechanical) in accordance with Florida statutes as a condition of continued employment. Must apply for and obtain a certificate from the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation in the appropriate category/discipline (mechanical) within one (1) year of hire.

    Plans Examiner I- Licensed : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate. Must possess a valid Plans Examiner License from the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (F.S. Chapter 468) in an approved category or discipline of mechanical. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

    Plans Examiner II- Licensed : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate. Must possess two (2) valid Plans Examiner Licenses from the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (F.S. Chapter 468) in an approved category or discipline of mechanical; or one (1) valid Plans Examiner License and one (1) valid Standard Inspector License from the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAI) in the approved discipline (mechanical). Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

    This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
