  • Job Description

    • Uses trauma informed care and de-escalation approaches in order to reduce negative community health outcomes.
    • Works closely with Aim4Peace team, social service providers, medical personnel, and other professionals when referrals are required.
    • Provides high quality support, information, and referrals for youth and adolescents calling into the Violence Prevention Hotline.
    • Employees in this position will be trained and must understand the topic of crisis intervention/conflict de-escalation, community violence, trauma-informed care, and youth mental health.
    • Occasionally works non-traditional days/hours and days/hours will vary week to week.
    • Flexible and able to work on-call on a rotating schedule.
    • Responds to Youth violence Prevention Hotline calls and makes referrals when appropriate.
    • Provides triage services to callers and keep them engaged towards de-escalation or needed services.
    • Creates a collaborative network of service providers to utilize for referrals.
    • Collaborates with Aim4Peace youth programming, including Youth Advisory Board.
    • Collects and maintain documentation of all contacts and outcomes of calls.
    • Attends mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, and conflict de-escalation training.
    • Distributes public education material to targeted audience.
    • Assists with team scheduling and coordination.
    • Manages documentation and the program call log.
    • Performs related duties as required.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school graduation. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
