- Uses trauma informed care and de-escalation approaches in order to reduce negative community health outcomes.
- Works closely with Aim4Peace team, social service providers, medical personnel, and other professionals when referrals are required.
- Provides high quality support, information, and referrals for youth and adolescents calling into the Violence Prevention Hotline.
- Employees in this position will be trained and must understand the topic of crisis intervention/conflict de-escalation, community violence, trauma-informed care, and youth mental health.
- Occasionally works non-traditional days/hours and days/hours will vary week to week.
- Flexible and able to work on-call on a rotating schedule.
- Responds to Youth violence Prevention Hotline calls and makes referrals when appropriate.
- Provides triage services to callers and keep them engaged towards de-escalation or needed services.
- Creates a collaborative network of service providers to utilize for referrals.
- Collaborates with Aim4Peace youth programming, including Youth Advisory Board.
- Collects and maintain documentation of all contacts and outcomes of calls.
- Attends mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, and conflict de-escalation training.
- Distributes public education material to targeted audience.
- Assists with team scheduling and coordination.
- Manages documentation and the program call log.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
