Several full-time positions available with the Water Department, Pipeline Division located at 2409 E. 18th St.
Salary Range: $20.10-$30.64/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM -5:30 PM, Monday - Thursday 5:00 PM-3:30 AM, Friday - Monday 7:00 AM -5:30 PM.

Responsibilities
- Operates pickup and other trucks in the scheduled pickup and delivery of supplies, deposits lights and barricades at designated location.
- Drives a truck engaged in street-cleaning activities; participates in snow plowing and snow removal operations.
- Drives a truck with a flat-bed trailer for hauling construction equipment; drives construction equipment on and off lo-boy units.
- Operates a large construction tractor or crawler-type bulldozer.
- Operates heavy, complex, and specialized automotive equipment in connection with the construction, maintenance and repair of water systems.
- Operates a large trenching machine or backhoe digging ditches or holes for water and sewer lines and repair and maintenance / replacement of water and sewer lines; digs ditches, lays pipe for water and sewer lines, backfill and tamps ditches.
- Operates high loader with a bucket capacity of 2-1/2 cubic yards or more in loading material and equipment.
- Makes routine field adjustments and repairs to equipment; assists mechanics in the maintenance and major repair of equipment.
- Conducts safety inspection of equipment.
- Participates in the installation and repair of water mains, valves and hydrants; repairs leaks and breaks in existing mains.
- Locates and manipulates valves and keys to regulate the water system.
- Operates tapping machines to make major water main line taps; lays pipe by hand or by guiding the activities of a backhoe, hoist or crane operation.
- Maintains and completes accurate records and logs.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES 6 months of experience in the operation of trucks and other specialized automotive equipment. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid Missouri Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of probationary period. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
