    Overview

    Are you a skilled Medical Assistant who is looking for the flexibility of part-time work? The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment (LCDHE) is hiring a hard-working Medical Assistant to join our clinical services team!

    The Medical Assistant will work in our Clinical Services Program supporting both sexual and reproductive health and immunization services. Using a team-based model of care, the Medical Assistant will provide direct support and care to patients and assist with day-to-day administrative and clinical support functions.

    The typical schedule will be 30 hours per week Monday through Friday primarily during clinic hours and with some administrative duties (meetings, trainings, etc.) outside of clinic hours. Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours is also needed.

    Responsibilities

    Specifically this position:
    • Takes vital signs, height, and weight measurements; performs laboratory screenings as indicated and prepares specimens for transport to outside labs; obtains point-of-care testing and records results in electronic health record in accordance with department procedures
    • Obtains blood samples by venipuncture for specified laboratory tests, following appropriate phlebotomy practices and department policy
    • As delegated by healthcare providers on staff, gives immunizations and injections per department policy
    • Assists healthcare providers with maintaining accurate and current documentation of services provided
    • Prepares, stocks, and cleans examination rooms
    • Maintains inventory of clinic supplies and equipment
    • Reviews client medical and social histories; reviews patient forms for completeness and accuracy of information, and records appropriate client information in electronic health record
    • Keeps informed of current medical updates and continuing education topics pertinent to the role
    • Participates in routine reporting, audits of clinic charts and data collection as necessary and required by the program and Colorado Department of Health and Environment

    We are looking for a candidate who will:
    • Have experience working as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, with sexual and reproductive health and immunization experience preferred
    • Preferably have bilingual language skills (English/Spanish)
    • Have regular, predictable attendance with flexibility to work Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and evening hours
    • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Be proficient using electronic medical record systems for documentation of patient encounters
    • Work independently and in a team environment
    • Have knowledge of and experience with software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases
    • Evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks, ensuring adherence to deadlines and completion with a high level of accuracy
    • Provide and receive feedback in a constructive manner
    • Have a team-focused approach, with a willingness to help others when needed
    • Preferably have a Medical Assistant certification.


    Qualifications

    All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
    • One (1) years of related experience, required. Successful completion of a medical assistant certification program, may be substituted for the one (1) year of related experience.
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.
    • Basic Life Support certification within one year from date of hire, required.
    • Phlebotomy certification or completion of Larimer County Department of Health and Environment phlebotomy training within one (1) year from date of hire required.

    Our current clinic hours are:
    (Clinic hours are subject to change)
    • Monday (Loveland): 8am - 4:30pm
    • Tuesday (Fort Collins): 10am - 6pm
    • Wednesday (Loveland): 8am - 5pm
    • Wednesday (Fort Collins): 8am - 3pm
    • Thursday (Fort Collins): 8am - 12pm
    • Friday (Fort Collins): 8am - 4:30pm
