    Overview

    The Assessor's Office is hiring! We are looking for one full-time regular employee and up to three limited-term employees to join our team as Data Collectors.

    The Data Collector position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on in the field while contributing directly to the property valuation process. This role involves spending much of your time outdoors measuring homes, gathering detailed site-specific information, and interacting with property owners at their doorsteps.

    You will play a vital role in creating accurate building footprint drawings and entering data into the specialized software used by the Assessor’s Office. It’s an ideal position for someone who enjoys a mix of fieldwork, technology, and meaningful community engagement.

    The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

    Responsibilities

    Specifically, this position:
    • Gathers data through visual inspection, sketching building exteriors and/or site boundaries, measuring, and photographing the property.
    • Performs data entry of additions, completions, and/or site use and zoning changes.
    • Locates and identifies blueprints, maps, plans, surveys, and other resources for appraisal staff.
    • Completes field inspections of single-family residential real property and ancillary structures in response to appeals or as requested.
    • Complies with County vehicle usage policy. County vehicles used by the Assessor's Office are equipped with GPS to enhance employee safety and collect data.
    • Creates, records, and maintains information about property attributes and creates building footprints.

    We are looking for a candidate who will:
    • Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather.
    • Be self-motivated with a strong eye for detail.
    • Possess excellent communication skills for interacting with property owners, co-workers, and supervisors.
    • Work independently after the initial training period.
    • Provide excellent customer service to clients and the public.
    • Write reports using accurate English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.


    Qualifications

    All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Additional coursework related to single-family residential real property preferred.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

    Supplemental Information

    An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment testing.
