This position will be located at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park, 1401 Kiefer Creek Road, Ballwin, Missouri. Work shifts normally are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with a ½ hour lunch break. Days off are Saturday and Sunday. Position may be required to work at least one weekend per month from April-October. Must also work varying shifts depending on holidays, emergencies, and special events as needed.
- Semi-skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction and repair of buildings and trail system, and routine cleaning of structures with assistance in the operation of the water/wastewater systems.
- Assist with assigning tasks to and reviewing work of seasonal maintenance staff.
- Monitor operations of the water and wastewater systems. Perform testing, report problems and maintain records as required or in the absence of the Specialized Trades Worker (Senior Maintenance Worker) Diagnose, Oversee or perform routine, technical and complex repairs of lift station, irrigation pumps, towers, pipes, drains, faucets and all parts of the water/waste water system.
- Direct and perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, routine preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, buildings and structures maintenance, infrastructure and tree trimming. Must be able to perform some minor vehicle and equipment repairs on site
- Purchase operating supplies, parts and project materials as necessary. Become familiar with and follow all procurement rules and procedures.
- Communicate openly and effectively with the public, external stakeholders, supervisors and subordinates.
- Assist with stewardship of resources, both natural and cultural. Participate in controlled burns, invasive plant removal and other resource management related projects. Participate in off-site controlled burns at other parks in the unit, and/or to help meet Region or Statewide management goals.
- Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures and policies. Attend mandatory and other trainings including overnight stays to learn new or enhance existing skills.
- Fire Certification, S-190 or MDC Level 1, must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
This position will be required to have certifications in wastewater operation and/or water distribution or other required certifications depending on facility operation plan. If you do not have current certification, you will be given 12 months from appointment date to obtain the necessary certifications.

- One to three years of experience in a variety of trade areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
