Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Why you’ll love this position: Educator Certification issues educator certificates to all educators who work in the state’s school systems, as well as assisting with the review of certificate-holders who are charged with misconduct.
- Retrieves background check information (rap sheets) from MACHS system and appropriately categorizes and transfers data to DESE web applications system.
- Accurately interprets rap sheet information to determine initial clearance status.
- Creates, maintains, and monitors discipline case files.
- Assists with background investigations by discretely and confidentially requesting court, school, and/or Missouri and Non-Missouri state agency documentation.
- Scans and files of documentation received from educators, school districts, court systems, etc.
- Answers and/or directs certification (call center) telephone calls.
- Answers and/or directs Conduct and Investigation telephone calls and correspondence.
- Digitize and update archived discipline files.
- Maintains the background check and discipline information provided on the certification website.
- Assists in providing responses to conduct and investigation and educator certification emails.
- Provides assistance to school districts, universities/colleges, and individuals on discipline procedures and the status of educators’ certificates.
- Collects, verifies, and enters data for issuance of teaching certificates.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and heavy seasonal workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - Graduated from high school or High School Equivalency.
- One or more years’ experience in clerical or secretarial work.
