Full-time position available with the Water Department, Remittance Division located at 4800 E 63rd St
Salary Range: $18.61-$29.39/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Responsibilities
- Prepares the Payment Failures Report daily and addresses discrepancies involving payments that failed to post to customer accounts.
- Oversees the customer portal for incoming customer requests related to missing and misapplied payments.
- Completes assigned EWQs, focusing on determining separation and conducting in-depth research for missing and misapplied payments, including verifying valid proof of payment submitted by customers.
- Investigates missing and misapplied payment requests received through Microsoft Teams and Outlook from the Contact Center management team.
- Monitors the Suspense Account daily, investigate unidentified payment issues, and allocate them to the correct accounts.
Manages all escalations related to lobby payments and missing or misapplied online payments. - Processes Inter-Jurisdictional Agreement (IJA)/Sludge payments efficiently, distributing payment confirmations and maintaining organized payment records.
- Conducts thorough research using the credit balance refund dashboard to identify discrepancies, verify eligibility, and process only valid, unprocessed refunds.
- Serves as a backup to Senior Accounting Clerks, providing support with daily Remittance tasks and ensuring continuity of operations.
- Provides backup support to the Cashier as needed, ensuring smooth and efficient handling of transactions during peak times or absences.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 3 years of increasingly responsible secretarial and/or clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.
Preference for at least 1 year of experience conducting in-depth account or payment research using KWIC or a similar Customer Information System. Other Information

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
