Description: Job Description Summary: Jefferson County seeks an experienced attorney to perform a variety of litigation work for the County Attorney's Office on a limited term basis.
To be successful in this position, the Assistant County Attorney must be detail-oriented, have good organizational and negotiation skills, the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and establish and maintain working relationships with clients and co-workers.
The Assistant County Attorney will work independently in a technologically advanced, fast-paced, sophisticated, and collegial work environment in our office with county clients and agencies, elected officials, and the public.
Salary: The hiring salary range is $ 95,000 1 - $1 15 ,000 annually based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is $78,069.81 - $121,008.71.
Operations - Litigation Unit: This position involves representing the County and its elected and appointed officials in litigation and administrative proceedings, particularly in administrative tax appeals, federal civil rights actions filed by inmates , and regulatory enforcement. The attorney will be responsible for a variety of litigation matters, including preparation of pleadings, performance of discovery, research and writing, handling administrative hearings, trial and appellate work, property tax appeals and general civil litigation.
Schedule: This position is for a limited term with an end date of 12/31/2027. However, the position has the possibility of being extended for an additional term or leading to a permanent position, depending on funding and office workload.
This position has the potential to operate on a four-day, 40-hour work week (Monday-Thursday)
or a standard work week (Monday-Friday.) This position also offers the opportunity for remote work on some days of the week .
Depending on qualifications, this position may be hired as an Assistant County Attorney - Staff or Assistant County Attorney - Associate. The Staff position is an entry-level attorney position. The Associate position will typically assist other attorneys in making decisions regarding their workflow, and interactions at the Associate level are typically concerned with providing communications at higher levels of organizational operations and may utilize activities such as evaluating customer satisfaction, developing cooperative associations, and allocating resources to improve work operations, work quality, overall achievement of organizational goals and objectives, and customer satisfaction.
A writing sample is required and must be attached in order to be considered for employment. Appellate writing samples are preferred.
Minimum Qualifications : - Requires JD or LLB from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of one year of litigation is required .
- Must be licensed to practice law in Colorado or eligible on motion ; must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications : - Three years of litigation experience is preferred.
