This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the General Services Agency. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Current vacancy is with the General Services Agency (GSA) located in Visalia. This position is responsible to operate digital printing equipment, computer to plate equipment, and networked output devices. Use graphic arts desktop publishing software. offset duplicating equipment to reproduce drawings, charts, forms, and type-written or printed materials from silver masters. To sort, process and deliver a variety of incoming and outgoing mail and to perform duplicating, bindery, and print operations.
Standard Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm - Monday - Friday.
Typical DutiesSet up, adjust, and operate offset presses and other duplicating equipment to reproduce quality forms, drawings, lists, and schedules for various county offices. Read work orders and select appropriate equipment and materials to duplicate copies. Perform desktop publishing activities using various graphic arts programs. Prepare work to be output on a computer to plate system. Produce various types of forms on a digitally networked output device. Sort incoming postal mail, parcels, and inter-office mail for appropriate department delivery. Sort various outgoing mail, classify by type, weigh, and meter with correct postage. Obtain receiving signatures in logbook for incoming classified mail and parcel deliveries. Load and deliver mail according to route plan and time schedule. Process special categories of mail such as bulk, presort, certified, registered, insured, express and parcels. Prepare courier tubs with U.S. and inter-office mail. Operate folding machine, mail inserter, electronic scale, drum scale, computerized mailing machine and contemporary office equipment such as a copier, adding, and facsimile machine. Operate and maintain finishing equipment including paper cutter, stitcher, perforator, numbering, machine collator, jogger, folder, paper drill, laminator, and binding machines in reproducing, assembling, and binding a variety of forms, charts, envelopes, stationery, and schedules. Perform finish work, duplications, and offset press processes; correct format for printing books, reports, multiple-part forms, and reduction. Maintain and troubleshoot various types of equipment by, cleaning, adjusting, lubricating, and making minor repair. Use various chemicals, solutions, and inks to obtain quality reproductions. Clean and operate computer to plate equipment. May pick up, transport, and stack paper and other supplies. May unload freight using a pallet jack.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education/Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade
AND one (1) year of experience operating duplicating, desktop publishing, offset printing equipment, and/or digital equipment within a printing environment including six months of experience processing, handling, or delivery of mail or packages.
Knowledge of : Basic math sufficient to calculate paper stock, printing orders, and finished product; math sufficient to compute percent, decimals, and fractions; alphabetical, numerical, and non-numerical filing, indexing, and cross-reference methods; advanced computer operations in regard to graphic arts desktop publishing software; basic computer to plate equipment and operation, duplications and offset press, equipment, repair, maintenance, and supplies; correct format for printing books, reports, multiple-part forms, and reduction; software operations, computer to plate technology, and networked output device operations and bindery, finish, pre-press, offset press equipment and mail preparation processes and equipment.
Skill/Ability to: Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers; operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment; operate basic duplications and offset press equipment and digital printing equipment; read and understand work orders, department regulations, postal regulations, equipment operating and repair manuals, work orders, and other similar technical information; organize work to meet deadlines and adjust to changing workloads, requirements and the stress of meeting deadlines; follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively to clarify work order instructions and discuss problems with supervisor or customers; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Retain and follow written and verbal instructions; observe safe work practices; operate multiple desktop publishing programs and to be able to import files between various programs; develop and design various types of graphs for reproduction purposes; troubleshoot and solve communication errors between various computer software programs and computer platforms; write legibly to log information related to inventory, and receipt and delivery of mail and parcels; understand customer information and layout the information in an organized manner.
License/Certificates: Possession of, or the ability to obtain an appropriate, valid California driver's license.

Limit of 300 hours.
