As an Accountant I, you will contribute to the vital functions of the Larimer County Treasurer’s Office by performing a variety of accounting tasks under the guidance of experienced management. This full-time position is in our office at 200 W. Oak Street, Suite 2100, Fort Collins, CO, with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:
- Prepares and or assists with the following tasks: ACH detail reporting, account payable warrants/checks clearing, bank confirmations, journal entries, bank reconciliations
- Performs assigned accounting functions working under the guidance of management personnel
- Applies and reviews accounting processes within scope of work
- Understands accounting methods, procedures and terms

- Learn to apply accounting principles to maintain financial transactions and audit financial records.
- Prepare, examine, and verify routine financial documents and reports with accuracy.
- Create internal financial statements, journal entries, reports, and analyses.
- Apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations to accounting, budgeting, and auditing tasks.
- Be highly proficient in MS Excel and comfortable working with the General Ledger.
- Know routine business applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Demonstrate experience with automated financial management systems.
- Understand generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
QualificationsAll candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting required.
