What you will do - Obtains detailed information from environmental staff and district personnel to develop, write and edit technical documents in accordance with department policies and practices for approval by the Federal Highway Administration and other agencies.
- Has good working knowledge of grammar, spelling, and writing in order to prepare, edit, and review internal and external documents, correspondence, and graphics as it relates to environmental regulations, requirements, or other environmental issues.
- Evaluates projects for environmental impacts and compliance with state and federal regulations and organizational guidelines; presents information to department staff through frequent and regular communications; makes recommendations regarding the need to avoid or minimize environmental impacts; trains MoDOT District staff on environmental processes and procedures.
- Stays current on topics concerning federal or state legislation, regulatory agency guidance, and performs analysis on various environmental topics; provides technical assistance to internal and external staff in understanding and complying with state, federal, and organizational environmental standards and regulations, and participates on project core teams.
- Conducts field visits to project sites as needed to gather data necessary for completing technical documents.
What you will need for success - Bachelor's Degree: Social, Environmental, or Natural Resource Science, English, Technical Writing, or related field
Special Working Conditions: - After an initial six-month probationary period, a hybrid telework option may be considered.

- Job requires minimal, statewide, or out-of-state, overnight travel.
- Job requires exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.
- Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
