As an Accounting Technician , you will play a critical role in supporting the city’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and transparency in accounting and reporting. What You’ll Do:
- Streamline processes: Manage accounts payable and procurement card transactions, while supporting procurement operations.
- Ensure compliance: Collect W-9 forms from vendors and assist in preparing 1099s for accurate financial reporting.
- Manage financial data: Process cash collections for accounts receivable, hotel occupancy taxes, and miscellaneous receipts, as well as monthly billings and accounts receivable.
- Support accounting accuracy: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Contribute to big-picture goals: Assist with preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the city’s annual operating budget.
- Handle inquiries: Research and compile data for open records requests while preparing detailed financial reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Specialized training in accounting principles and procedures, in addition to skills typically gained through high school education.
- Experience: At least two years in a similar position, providing a strong foundation in relevant accounting practices.
- Professional Requirements: Ability to be bonded, ensuring trust and accountability.
