    Job Summary

    Under general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager for Architectural Trades, the Locksmith performs work involving the installation, repair, remodel, and maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems and security devices; low voltage computerized access control systems; and door openers, closers and hardware.

    Department Summary

    Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of five critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services; Energy, Utilities, & Sustainability; Environmental Health & Safety; Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations.     Key Qualifications
    • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the locksmith trade including knowledge of complex access and control systems.
    • Thorough knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices and related hardware.
    • Thorough knowledge of applicable state codes pertaining to the locksmith trade including those related to fire exits, door hardware and fastening devices.
    • Working knowledge of electrical locking and security systems and devices.
    • Ability to perform journey-level locksmith work.

    Education and Experience
    • Any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a locksmith’s apprenticeship program. Must possess current license or present sufficient certification(s) to substantiate progressive experience as a locksmith.

    Salary and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $69,552 - $81,492 per year

    Classification Range: $64,260 - $93,612 per year
