RoleUnder general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the operation of transfer station equipment and in the operation, maintenance, and repair of county transfer station facilities and other county facilities.
Major Duties, Responsibilities- Assists in the operation and maintenance of transfer stations.
- Assists in the collection and disposal of waste tires and appliances..
- Assists in construction and maintenance of other county facilities.
- Serves as lead person in community cleanup operations.
- Operates motor vehicles and equipment requiring a CDL; using equipment to perform various labor and repair work. Operates non-CDL equipment including loaders, backhoes and other assigned equipment.
- Assists in abatement of hazard waste sites and assists in removal and disposal of debris from County right-of-way and other property.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
Additional Requirements:Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona Class A Commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement within 1 year of employment.
Must possess or obtain EPA Section 608 Type 1 Certification within 6 months of employment.

Work Environment:The work environment is associated with a field environment year-round in all weather conditions and includes exposure to loud noise, dangerous emergency situations, hazardous waste, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, walk over rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces, and lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
