    Job Announcement

    The City of Chandler Neighborhood Resources Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Community Resources Specialist. This position is ongoing full-time, limited duration and will serve at the discretion of the department director. Funding for this position is considered on a project or an annual basis. This position is eligible for benefits listed below.

    Who we are
    The City of Chandler Community Development Division administers funds and programs that promote the improvement of quality of life for low- to moderate-income families and assist in the stabilization of Chandler neighborhoods. As well as partner with nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and City departments to address basic and critical human needs.
    This division receives Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds from the federal government. And we administer General Funds to local non-profits. These grants allow our department to:
    • fund non-profits that serve people in need in Chandler
    • offer home rehabilitation for low-income individuals
    • provide emergency home repair for low-income individuals
    • fund capital projects such as park improvements that develop neighborhoods and benefit the community

    Who we are looking for
    Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone who will identify resources to assist and facilitate access to community resources including housing and cultural development opportunities.
    1. Monitors the Chandler Cares email and phone line and connects residents with community assistance programs.
    2. Monitors Justice Court Calendars to identify and offer assistance to residents pending eviction.
    3. Triages cases to prevent eviction or lockout and works with resident and Community Resources Coordinator to expedite cases.
    4. Facilitates financial and housing stability by identifying resident needs, researching opportunities for assistance and working with households to utilize new resources and skills to improve their quality of life.
    5. Prepares program reports and dashboards.
    6. Participates in public outreach events and connects with local businesses and non-profit organizations to provide education about community resources and Cares Team services.

    Minimum qualifications
    • An Associate's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or a related field
    • 2 years of experience in community outreach, resident interaction, non-profit organizations, grant allocations or in a related field
    • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

    This is a full-time, limited duration position with benefits. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

    The City of Chandler will conduct a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city's Drug Free Workplace Policy. Certain positions within the city are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment or volunteer opportunity.
