Full-time position available with the Office of the City Manager, City Communications Division located at 414 E. 12th St.
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates with City departments to ensure timely, Sunshine Law-compliant responses are provided to requestors.
- Reviews incoming records requests and assigns requests to appropriate departments for processing.
- Establishes familiarity with and utilization of the City's records request portal to track requests, facilitate communication with requestors, and regularly run reports to monitor response progress and fulfillment.
- Assists respective City departments with response and compliance efforts, ascertains specific departmental needs for records request responses, and coordinates support for the fulfillment process.
- Establishes and maintains a working knowledge of the Missouri Sunshine Law and its requirements. Consults with the Law Department as needed to ensure compliance with and continued knowledge of the Missouri Sunshine Law.
- Oversees the City's Sunshine Law Compliance Committee and coordinates monthly meetings for departmental discussion, training, response coordination, and the addressing of other matters as necessary.
- Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with employees, municipal officials, and the public as it pertains to open records requests.
- Establishes and maintains effective and efficient organization skills and processes.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and technological skill.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in business or public sector administration to include at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience with at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs.
Preference given for experience working with or familiarity with the Missouri Sunshine Law; knowledge of the federal Freedom of Information Act; excellent presentation skills; and supervisory experience in office setting. Other Information

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
