What You'll Be DoingThe vision of the
Eastern Regional Center (ERC) is to assure that citizens have access to needed, quality services that are community-based and in one convenient location. The ERC is one of the county's strategies to deliver services in coordination with a network of community partners including local municipalities, schools, faith-based and civic organizations. The services offered at the ERC include Health Services, Social Services and General County Services including access to birth certificates, environmental services and tax payments. Health Services offered at the ERC include shots and immunizations, family planning services, child health services, prenatal (pregnancy) care, WIC services (nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and food vouchers) and home-visiting nurses specializing in pregnancy & early childhood development.
We are currently looking for a dedicated
Health Clinic Nurse to join our team at the ERC. When needed, this position may be asked to float to all regional centers and help support medical operations in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and other events.
Essential Functions: - Assist with identification of health problems
- Return patient phone calls
- Patient interview, assessment, medical intervention, and providing discharge teaching and education to promote health maintenance
- Assist in making referrals to collaborative partners within and outside of WCHHS such as Prenatal Clinic, Medicaid WIC, Nutrition, Mental Health, Interact, Colposcopy, Mammogram and Ultrasonography
- Administer injections and laboratory functions as needed
- Supervisory duties including communicating special client needs or circumstances to the medical and clerical staff, oversee duties of CMAs and precept new employees and students to the department's general clinic environment, maintenance and safety

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
- No specific experience required
- Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - 2-year Associates Degree in Nursing
- Registered nursing license
- Basic CPR training
- Minimum of 6 months of public health nursing

- Ability to present information to individuals including discharge teaching and education to promote health maintenance
