Full-time position available with the Public Works Department, Public Inspections Division located at 4721 Coal Mine Road
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Manages neighborhood and capital improvement projects for Public Works.
- Focuses on neighborhood traffic calming and sidewalks which involves reviewing the specifications of Traffic operations manual, MUTCD etc.
- Manages planning, design, development, construction, renovation, maintenance or operation of neighborhood/capital improvements with an emphasis on Sidewalks and Pavement projects.
- Possesses background in project management, including scope, schedule and budget management.
- Meets with neighborhoods as part of public engagement to understand the needs of traffic calming.
- Designs, plans and constructs the traffic calming devices with collaboration from various groups within the City.
- Presents to key stakeholders.
- Uses/learns ArcGIS for mapping the projects.
- Acts as liaison with design professionals, construction contractors, citizens, elected officials and other members of the Public Works project delivery and support teams.
- Writes proposals for new projects and reviews existing project proposals once funding is provided, establishes work plans and determines time frames, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment to various phases of project management.
- Assists other Public Works staffs in determining estimated costs of possible future City projects based on resident requests in preparation for the City's annual budget cycle.
- Exercises good judgment to resolve technical problems, manages projects, and provides data for asset risk assessment criteria.
- Interprets and applies City ordinances, state and federal regulations, specifications, and related standards to projects and related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
