APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 11/27/24 5:00PM GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Employees of this class are expected to perform day-to-day activities associated with airport operations and maintenance of Kingman Municipal Airport and Industrial Park in order to comply with local, state, federal regulations. Incumbents are responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks ranging from semiskilled to highly skilled duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Airport General Manager and through direction of the Airport Operations & Maintenance Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED May supervise part-time operations and maintenance employees, temporary employees, community service workers or DOC inmate workers as required or as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications/Special RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Three to five (3-5) years of airfield operations and/or facilities and grounds maintenance experience.
- Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Valid Arizona Driver’s License or ability to obtain one upon hire.
- Based on assignment, may be required to participate and obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training certifications.
- May require pesticide control applicator certificate.

- Performs daily airport safety and security inspections of airport facilities, grounds, and properties to ensure regulatory compliance with FAA guidelines, FAR Part 77, Airport Emergency Plan, and other Federal, State, and local regulations or policies.
- This job has partial responsibility for regulatory reporting to federal, state, and local agencies (gathers information, completes reports, and assists in addressing discrepancies in reporting).
- Assists in gathering information and submitting reports relating to aircraft incidents/accidents, breaches of airfield security, wildlife hazard management, daily inspection, inventory reports, and training reports.
- Performs airport operations and maintenance services in order to ensure compliance with FAA regulations.
- Responds to aircraft and weather emergencies.
- Issues Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs).
- Maintains airport grounds, exterior and interior of airport buildings, janitorial duties, and other related service tasks.
- Duties include pesticide and herbicide applications for weed control and pest extermination to maintain airport safety.
- Assists with services and maintenance of work tools and equipment. including high tower climbing.
- Responds to unscheduled requests for assistance from hangar tenants and other airport facility users.
- Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts. Must be able to clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate orally and through aviation radio so that safe access to runways and taxiways is ensured.
- Maintains professional and effective working relationships by providing excellent customer service to both internal and external contacts
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
- May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call and stand-by as needed and.be able to respond to a variety of airfield problems and situations. May need to respond on short notice to emergency call out. .
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures; follows safety policies and practices, works in a safe manner, and reports unsafe activity and conditions.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES - May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Performs special assignments as requested.
KNOWLEDGE Specialized knowledge of FAA regulations, FAR Part 77, Airport Emergency Plan, wildlife management programs, practices, and procedures for inspections, operations, maintenance, and construction on and around Airport property; Working knowledge of methods, equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance and in such areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry; Equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to facility maintenance work and airport operations; Local, State, and Federal building codes to perform building maintenance and repair work which will meet code requirements.
SKILLS Skills in the safe, effective operation; and care of hand tools and power equipment necessary to perform various building maintenance, renovation and repair tasks; Operation of motor vehicles and heavy equipment; Airfield and building electrical power systems, controls, calibration, and installation of instrumentation and associated telemetry systems; Troubleshooting problems; Maintaining and handling applicable equipment; Utilizing mechanical apparatus; Preparing and maintaining records; Read and interpret blueprints and sketches; Working in a team environment; Providing customer service; Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications; Effective communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, City employees, supervisor, vendors, and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
ABILITIES Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; climb 65 foot beacon tower, lift and move heavy objects; walk and stand for long periods of time; communicate orally and in writing; use equipment and tools properly and safely; understand and follow written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and communicate clearly, conveying information and ideas to others in an open, honest, collaborative manner within and outside the organization; Adapt to changing work priorities; Troubleshoot and offer solutions to effectively maintain facilities and systems; Perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra) to design project, calculate costs, and material estimates; Participate in teamwork productively; Measure distance using a tape measure or other measuring device; Review or check the work products of others for conformance to standards; Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others; Operate standard office equipment and two-way radio; Work in a variety of climatic conditions.
