    Two full-time positions available with the Aviation Department, Airport Police Division located at 1 International Square
    Salary Range: $32.38-$48.56/hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. during training, then put on scheduled based on operational needs.

    Responsibilities

    • Orients, instructs and supervises subordinate officers engaged in routine patrol of roadways, runways, taxiways, building and other airport facilities.
    • Assigns and schedules subordinate officers to their respective work stations and shifts; assists subordinates as necessary by giving advice and assistance as warranted.
    • Participates in all phases of airport safety operations; as directed, when necessary, or during emergencies.
    • Supervises and assists, as necessary, during airport emergencies concerning crash, fire, bomb threats, and other actual or potentially impending disasters.
    • Supervises the recovering of lost articles and property.
    • Works directly with airport tenants, concessionaires and traveling public on a wide variety of matters such as theft, lost or runaway persons, vandalism reports, motor vehicle or personnel accidents and similar general information sought by the general public.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school graduation and 4 years of experience as a Police Officer with current Missouri State P.O.S.T. certification. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must pass a physical examination as prescribed by the City, and must be eligible to obtain a special police commission as issued by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, Board of Police Commissioners. Must pass a psychological evaluation. Must possess a valid State -issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must successfully complete a TSA criminal history background check and pass a preemployment drug screen.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
