Job Description:OverviewPerforms a variety of paraprofessional duties involving the issuance of non moving traffic citations and related community contact work. Duties include the preparation of various reports, utilization of law enforcement communication equipment and operation of a motor vehicle.
Essential Functions- Primary responsibility will be to patrol assigned area in which parking regulations are to be enforced.
- Write parking citations and deliver it to vehicle found to be in violation.
- To issue citations for non moving violations including but not limited to improper parking at loading zones, meters, crosswalks, fire hydrants, fire lanes, handicapped zones and obstruction parking.
- Testify in court proceedings if necessary related to their work activity.
- Perform ambassador functions with businesses and residents in areas of routine patrol relating to parking enforcement problems.
- Direct traffic, as required.

Minimum QualificationsEducation equivalent to graduation from high school with experience in work involving contact with the public. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License is required. Incumbent must have the ability to complete and successfully pass the Florida State Certification for Parking Enforcement within one (1) year of employment.
Job Based Competencies- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to learn parking regulations and parking violation procedures.
- Ability to deal courteously and fairly with the public in the course of administrative regulations and issuing citations.
- Ability to utilize a special parking enforcement vehicle or other designated motor vehicles.
- Ability to keep simple records and prepare simple reports neatly and legibly.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to utilize hand held computer for issuance of parking violations.
- Ability to utilize a wheel-lock device.
ResponsibilityUnder the direction of and responsible to the Parking Division Manager or designated representative. Assignments are received from the Parking Supervisor or designated representative. No Supervision Exercised.
Physical RequirementsMost of the work is performed in an outside environment with no effective control of environmental conditions. Position requires visual acuity to safely operate a motor vehicle, prepare and review written records and hearing sufficient to accurately perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work involves considerable physical activity including driving, walking, standing, crouching, grasping, climbing, kneeling, stooping, pulling, and balancing. Incumbent must be able to express or exchange information by means of the spoken word and must convey information accurately.
