    Job Announcement

    The City of Chandler Development Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Building Inspector Senior. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.

    Who we are
    The City of Chandler Development Services team, consisting of 83 positions, provides sound land use planning strategies, responsible design development standards, and high quality, safety compliant infrastructure in all areas of Development Services, including planning, GIS, building safety, development engineering, telecommunications and utility franchise, City fiber, transportation engineering, and customer service and permits. The Building Inspections team is a progressive and innovative team that partners with the development community, contractors, other departments, and citizens to deliver quality services in support of the City of Chandler's Mission and Values.

    Who we are looking for
    Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to perform skilled field work in residential and commercial building construction inspection to ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire, energy and accessibility and other building and construction codes.

    Minimum qualifications
    • A High School Diploma or GED and additional technical training; and
    • 3 years of experience in building inspection; or
    • 3 years of construction work in one of the four major trades: Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical or Building Construction or a related field; and a minimum of one 1 year of building inspection experience; and
    • 1 International Code Council (ICC) Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion; and
    • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

    This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

    The City of Chandler will conduct a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city's Drug Free Workplace Policy. Certain positions within the city are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment or volunteer opportunity. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
