Job Description Proposed Minimum Salary: $4,772.73/month The Classification and Compensation Analyst, under general supervision, assists in providing timely and professional services that support and enhance the compensation and staffing needs of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). Assists with the administration of the compensation program to include reviewing position descriptions, assisting with salary studies, assisting with compilation of statistical information, building compensation resources (i.e. position description templates, tutorials and/or guides etc. for supervisors), assisting with compensation training, performing Workday processing of compensation actions (salary adjustments, reclassifications, promotions) and creating approved position and posting requests. Responsible for maintaining compensation files and online resources, record and retention of compensation files and approved position and posting requests, as well as assisting with Affirmative Action reporting and files.
This position reports to the Manager, Compensation and Benefits.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Equivalency: Will consider an Associate’s degree with two years of experience in Compensation or various HR functions or a High School Diploma or GED with four years of experience in Compensation or various HR functions.)
Required Licenses/Certifications: - Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or in Business Administration.
- One or more years of experience in Compensation or various HR functions.
- One or more years of experience using Workday.
- Experience using Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point) and database applications such as Microsoft Access.
- Experience working in Human Resources for a state entity.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
Physical Requirements:- Ability to lift, carry, load, or unload moderately weighted recruitment material.
- Ability to remain stationary for extensive periods of time in an office environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, customer service, and multitasking abilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Workday (HRIS).
- Familiarity with employment laws and state and federal policy related to compensation.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry applications, as well as standard office equipment and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, students, vendors, and staff respectfully and professionally.
- Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices.

- As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.
- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:Compensation Program Administration Assistance - 65%- Assists with the review of position descriptions for accuracy of required qualifications, salary, and job duties to ensure consistency among similar or same job titles.
- Builds compensation resources to include templates, tutorials and/or guides for supervisors.
- Assists with compensation training.
- Assists with conducting promotion reviews.
- Performs Workday processing of compensation actions such as salary adjustments, reclassifications, and promotions.
- Creates approved positions and updates position descriptions as needed in Workday.
- Assists with the development/revisions of online resources.
- Maintains compensation files and online resources to include TEEX SharePoint Compensation web page ensuring content is accurate, current, and relevant.
- Performs record and retention of approved position requests.
- Assists with job analysis to determine appropriate job titles, and equitable compensation practices among job families.
- Updates information for classified titles in TEEX Compensation Spreadsheet when new titles are created or existing titles are revised.
- Answers general, routine questions regarding salary ranges and/or compensation practices.
Statistical Analysis and Surveys Assistance - 15%- Runs compensation reports and position description data as necessary.
- Compiles and runs reports using Excel, Workday, and Business Objects to assist with market review adjustments and maintenance of pay consistency and equity.
- Assists with market reviews and related research to determine appropriate titles and salary ranges.
Other Duties - 20%- Serves as back-up in Benefits by assisting employees, retirees, and dependents with determining benefits eligibility, applying for coverage, and processing life events.
- Assists with HR related projects as needed.
- Completes mandatory training and participates in relevant professional development opportunities/training to enhance professional growth
- Performs additional work duties as assigned.
