Full-time position available with the Public Works Department, District 1 Street Maintenance Division located at 2400 NE Russell Road
Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday- 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Performs full range of duties related to new construction by repairing, patching, replacing and/or painting concrete and asphalt surfaces including concrete culverts and wing walls, streets, sidewalks, medians, curbs, ADA ramps.
- Performs duties related to construction or repair of stone, brick, or block walls.
- Inspects, maintains, and repairs piping and plumbing fixtures on brine and calcium chloride tanks and replaces the pumps and motors.
- Performs minor electrical work on the brine and calcium chloride systems.
- Performs minor welding/repairs on tank apertures, bridge/culvert appurtenances and various City maintained structures including fencing.
- Operates snow removal equipment.
- Performs minor equipment repairs.
- Maintains proper fluids levels and replaces minor parts such as snow blades as needed.
- Leads and participates in the work of an assigned crew.
- Determines needs and requisitions tools, materials, and equipment for necessary repair and maintenance work.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES two years of experience as a skilled worker in building and mechanical repair work in a relevant trade (HVAC, boilers, hydraulics, pumps and motors etc.). An additional related technical education certificate or diploma may be substituted for one year experience. Must possess a valid State -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A, B, or C issued by the State of Missouri prior to the end of the employee's probationary period.(Appropriate CDL will be determined by the department). Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
