    The Position

    Plumbers perform skilled plumbing work to maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, Nevada is hiring for a Plumber 2. The Plumber 2 is responsible for maintaining and repair of all plumbing and devices which utilize water, steam, oil, gas, and sewage. They maintain, service, and repair the equipment, perform routine preventative maintenance and order parts and/or materials. Plumbers assist contractors by providing information regarding the existing structure, equipment, systems and required modification. A valid Nevada Driver's license is required.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level plumbing experience; OR one year of experience as a Plumber I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
